You are Awesome | Cocoa Vanilla Studio

Howdy scrappy friends! I’m back with you today and I am sharing a new 12 x 12 layout I completed recently. I decided I really needed some extra pages in my sons album, because I hadn’t updated it much lately! Thank heavens for my stash of the ‘Boys Rule’ collection by Cocoa Vanilla Studio. I quickly started to fill his album again thanks to the ease I can create with this range.

I had a set of 3 fun photos of my son in his new PJ’s that captured a bit of a funny story, (he’s ALWAYS tired)…. so I decided to add all 3 to my layout.

I layered various papers in a complimenting colour palette going both horizontal across my pages and vertically upright. The edges were distressed a little with my distress tool before I adhered them to my background paper. *TIP- By layering strips like this  on your background, is a great way of using up any left over pieces of paper you have!

I loved this phrase in the chipboard pieces and knew it would be perfect as the main title of my layout.

I added some black cotton from my stash in behind the ‘Boys Rule’ flair as well as more of the chipboard embellishments. I like that being thicker they sat up from my layout a little for dimension.

Once completed I love the colour and pattern combinations together!

Thanks for stopping by today! I hope you enjoyed seeing my latest layout.

Until next time, happy scrapping!

Love You To Pieces | Cocoa Vanilla

Hello there friends!

I’m back with you all on the blog today and I am sharing another layout I created with the divine ‘Happiness’ collection by Cocoa Vanilla Studio. I love adding a title to my projects and for this layout I went totally over the top and filled half my page with one!

Love you to pieces 1

I wanted to do something fun with my photo. So using a jigsaw cut file I had on hand I created a fun photo puzzle. It was adhered flat over my background with double sided tape and I left a few pieces coming away from the bulk of the photo for effect. Some machine stitching was added to my background as a border to add some texture.

Love you to pieces photo 4

My title was cut using some alphabet punches from my stash.I loved being able to alternate lots of different papers for their colour and design.Once it was all cut I decided to add some machine stitching through all of the letters.Again to add a nice texture to the finish. I varied both straight stitch and zig-zag – If you have OCD look away now…. I LOVE stitching titles crooked. Does that sound weird?? I just love the effect it gives and how it has a ‘handmade’ feel to it.

Love you to pieces photo 5

I adhered all the letters overlapping a little and decided to curl the edges a little for dimension.

Love you to pieces photo 6

For balance I added some of the lovely floral die cuts at the base of my photo as well as onto the background. Some were added with with foam tape so that they had a sweet layered effect.

Love you to pieces photo 3

Once completed I was really happy with seeing all these amazing colours come together!!

Happy Little Moments | Cocoa Vanilla Studio

Hey friends! I’m back today to share another layout I have created with the stunning new ‘HAPPINESS’ collection by Cocoa Vanilla Studio. I was so excited to learn there are cut files designed by our DT’s super talented Gwen that co-ordinate with the ‘Happiness’ collection. Cut files are some of my most favourite things to create with and I have centred my latest layout around them. You can download these cut files for FREE HERE.

I decided on using a white background for my layout so that the colours would really ‘pop’ against it and added a colourful frame using the ‘Botanical Bliss’ paper. To give a nice edge to my layout I then added some machine stitching to my white background edge.I enlarged the wreath cut file so that it would fill a good portion of my page and cut it from the ‘Good Vibes’ paper. Using a small amount of glue I adhered it to my background being careful to make sure it was centred.

Next I backed my floral cut files before adding them over the top of my wreath at opposite angles.I again chose to adhere these flat to the background so that I could use other elements to add dimension. From the die cuts I took the wreath circle and used it as a frame over my photo. This was added with foam tape for height and it was at this point I started adding more floral die cuts so they looked to ‘blend’ with my cut file blooms.

april2 (1)

I used the smaller floral cut file opposite my photo and created a neat little cluster with more of the die cuts.It added a lovely balance to my completed layout.

april3 (1)

The ‘Sweet’ phrase from the die cut titles pack was added to the bottom of my layout with foam tape and I also added some more little flower bloom die cuts.

april5 (1)

The cute little heart frame cut files were perfect to add to my wreath and I finished off my layout with some of the lovely Butterflies.

You Are Lovely | Cocoa Vanilla Studio

Hi lovelies! Today I am sharing some of my Traveller’s Notebook pages. I’m really excited because I have been creating with the all new ‘Happiness’ collection by Cocoa Vanilla Studio. It is so beautiful and perfect for making my pages stand out thanks to the gorgeous colour palette.

I really wanted to focus on the 6 x 8 inch paper pad for my pages as it was the perfect size for trimming down and layering throughout my TN.The small amount of excess I trimmed off would be great for backing a photo or using as a decorative border, so it limits waste.

march1 (1)

I chose co-ordinating papers to line my TN pages, making sure I left a small border around the edge. Not only does this frame the pages nicely but it helps prevent the pages being too bulky.Especially if I were to of taken it right into the spine of my TN. I used double sided tape to adhere the paper in rather than glue which could make the page buckle. On this double page spread I selected the circle frame die cut to support my photo. I used it as a guide to cut my photo down to fit and loved how it looked like a little window once completed.

March2 (1)

As always the floral die cuts are so pretty and I have layered them neatly to fill one of my corners. A small detail I have included is a free hand border I drew with a white pen.It adds a lovely soft touch to the overall balance of my pages.

March3 (2)

There is so many pretty papers to choose from in the Happiness collection. These navy ones were some of my most favourite. I created a ‘split’ page on the right by adding a lift up flap over my photo. The floral circle and butterfly die cut added a nice balance to the paper edge.

March4 (1)

Peek a boo! There’s another photo hiding under there! I added the lift up flap by cutting a piece of co-ordinating paper the same width as the backing only shorter. I then folded over a 1cm edge and adhered it down with double sided tape.

March5 (1)

I’ve used another of the borders from the die cut pack to support my photo and layered more pretty blooms!

March6 (1)

The die cut titles make it so easy to frame a project. There are so many combos you can choose to build a title that suits your theme. I selected a more pastel paper for each page but highlighted the borders this time with a black marker.

March7 (2)

The typed phrase stickers from the Accessory Stickers finished off my pages nicely. I like to layer them over the top of my photos for a fun effect.

I hope you have enjoyed seeing my latest design work today and it inspires you a little with your own creative projects.

Until next time,

Happy Day | Cocoa Vanilla Studio

Hello lovely friends! I’m back today sharing my latest layout, created with the Midnight collection by Cocoa Vanilla Studio. I love the contrasting colours in this collection and being able to add lots of pink and navy into my completed work. The theme I wanted for my photo was ‘Summer’ and it was easy to achieve that thanks to the florals and those ‘oh so cute’ mason jars.

I chose ‘Midnight Shine Bright’ as my background paper with a border of ‘Midnight Inky Depths’. I distressed the edges a little of my top page before adhering it and adding some machine stitching around the edge.

I cut a floral cluster from my Silhouette Cameo, (designed by Paige Evans via the Silhouette Store), and backed it with lots of varying shades of pink from the papers. The navy little buds really help make the cluster ‘pop’.

I adhered the floral cluster to my background with foam tape for dimension and also added in some of the leaves and flowers from the die cuts.

When I first saw these cute little mason jars I knew I wanted to make them a feature of my layout. I added some string from my stash so they looked like they were hanging from the cluster.

feb10 (1)

Any little open spaces around my cluster I added an extra leaf or small flower and I completed the look of my mason jars by adding a heart sticker to the centre.

Thanks for checking out my latest design today! I hope you enjoy some scrappy time for yourself.

Until next time,

Kylie. xo

Precious | Cocoa Vanilla Studio.

Hello lovelies!

I am so excited to be able to share my first layout as part of the Cocoa Vanilla Studio Design Team today! I created my layout with the divine ‘More Than Words’ collection.

I created my layout around the beautiful Butterfly cut file designed by Paige Evans which I found via the Silhouette store HERE. I backed it with lots of contrasting pastel papers. For my background, I added a half triangle of white card stock and added a machine stitched border.By doing this it also helped my Butterfly really stand out.

feb2 (1)

I used lots of dies and punches from my stash to create my layered flowers.Once I had glued them together I curled the petals of each just a little and centred them with an enamel dot. I also added some of the flower die cuts from the collection as well.

I punched some different styled leaves and added them in and around my blooms for balance.feb4

To finish off my layout I added one of the lovely chipboard stickers as a title to the top left side.

Once completed I loved the texture and dimension my layout had.
